We are recruiting for II-VI in Newton Acycliffe, Durham in the United Kingdom!

· Develop and document high yielding back end processes which include Pick and Place for reconstructed wafers from wafer maps on semi-automatic and automatic equipment including backside inspection.

· Wafer reconstruction for KGD (Known Good Die) on damage free processes.

· Control of production material for multi-wafer recon including traceability back to wafer via Wafer maps and run logs from multiple tools.

· GRR (Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility) for control and qualification of multiple tools.

· Process development to ensure a die damage free process (top and backside)

· Ensure safe working process and procedures are in place for production staff.

· Uses of SPC and DOE and responsibility for ownership of MRB and 8D activities.

· Perform new product introduction activities liaising with production staff to establish assembly capability for new products and processes.

· Ensure process are capable and sustainable and able to meet output demands and quality.

· Ownership for jigs and fixturing including designs and drawing control.

· Ability to work with vendors and customer for best possible compromises and solutions.

· Support production with assembly related issues to ensure high yields and fast cycle-times.

· To help ensure that the department operates efficiently and safely.


· Develop, document, sustain, yield enhancement of back end product processes.

· Ensuring safe operation of processes.

· Engineering analysis of data. Preparing reports including wafer maps, SPC reports.

· Ownership of MRB, 8D, DOE

· Ownership of problems to resolution of problems.

· Supporting Technicians and Operators with production issues.

· Supporting Technicians with technical issues.

· Performing training of production staff when required.

· Fault-finding of production equipment.

· System (Equipment, documentation, MES etc.) development and optimization.

· Producing device evaluation and diagnostic reports for internal and customer reviews

· Maintaining focus on improvement activities.

· Writing and maintaining records, instructions and procedures.


Proven experience of working in volume semiconductor back end engineering role, specifically volume Pick and Place or Wafer reconstruction to KGD. Experience of applicable equipment. Experience using Pick and Place or die bond tools in volume applications. Experienced in equipment selection and commissioning. Experienced in semiconductor device characterization.


Strong analytical and problem solving ability. Strong computer literacy Practical semiconductor assembly skills. Understanding of SPC techniques Understanding of DOE techniques Ability to develop analytical tools,


Pro-active and capable of working without direct supervision Prepared to be flexible in working hours to suit business needs, may need to work outside of office hours. Project team-working ability. Ability to train other colleagues in job specific skills Good Communication skills. Must have drive to achieve results. Able to demonstrate staff supervision experience.


HND/Degree qualified in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or similar.

Must be willing to undertake further training and development as necessary.
